Last friday I spent the day with the gorgeous and extremely cool Noomi Rapace who was in Venice promoting her new film, the Brian De Palma thriller “The Passion”.
Poor Noomi had woken up attacked by mosquitos and was left with a bad reaction so she had some swelling on her face – something you can never predict before you have a day of cameras and red- carpet. Cold compresses and anti-histimine creams were applied before makeup. Thankfully it went down during the day and you can’t see it in the pics but I think every girl has been there one way or another! This is no secret as Noomi told all the journalists during the day, bless her.For Noomis daytime look, she was wearing a Bianca Jagger type white suit so we went for a smokey eye and a pinky nude lip – understated and sexy since we were doing a more dramatic look for the evening. I created the eye using Chanel www.chanel.com gris/subtil eyeshadow duo using white in the inner corners of the eye to open them up (my agent has a standing joke about this because she notices it every time I do red carpet but it does make the eyes look bright!) and blending into a soft black eye. Chanel stylo yeux waterproof eyeliner in noir intense (amazing and long lasting)was used on the lashline and inside the eye to “finish” the eye. Eylure individual lashes and Armani eyes to kill lengthening mascarahttps://www.armanibeauty.co.uk/.I prepped Noomis skin with Sarah Chapman day creamwww.sarahchapman.net, Clarins primer, Lisse Minute to keep the base in place all day and keep the skin even and fairly matt and then used Chanel Aqua lumiere foundation in 40 with Laura Mercier secret camoflage concealer. Since there is a lot of filming during press junkets, much as I love dewy skin and cheek-bones, its better to keep it as shine free as possible. Blusher was the pinky hued Blush horizon de Chanel and lips were Tom Ford Blush nude www.tomford.comNoomi+Rapace+Passion+Premiere+69th+Venice-12

So I have posted Noomis daytime look,  now its time for a break-down of her premiere makeup for The Passion, directed by Brian De Palma.
I have to say, nothing beats the buzz of getting a gorgeous looking actress ready for a premiere. It’s like playing a fun evening of dress up with all the best clothes and accessories around possible. Most actresses spend a fair amount of time devising and fitting their “looks” with designers and stylists before I come on the scene and have specific ideas about their hair and makeup which I will try and implement and add my own take to. Noomi had chosen this green lace Valentino dress and had some images of makeup she liked, she had a great selection of Marilyn and Audrey Hepburn shots for me to look at and we decided on a classic red lip and “lashy” eyes with a black flick and contoured sockets. A slightly more lady-like European look really suits the red carpet in Venice.
I built up the eyebrows from the day with my beloved Chanel eye-brow kit, from the top of the brow using my favourite Laura mercier eyebrow brush, giving them a slightly 50s shape.Never build brows  from the bottom of the brow as it will lessen that valuable lid space and drag the eyes down. An Anastascia brow mascara www.cultbeauty.co.uk/anastasia-beverly-hills was used to groom the brows and keep them looking perfect. I used an old Chanel eye-gloss (sadly a one season wonder)in a creamy golden colour on her lids and defined the sockets with a Christian Dior matt brown shadow.A bit of shine on the lids keeps the look more modern and I generally try and avoid a purely matt look – it can be quite aging. Using a Christian Dior black eye-liner I did a small fifties flick, not too thick as it can look a bit “draggy” if it’s too obvious. I used Eylure vintage lashes on Noomis eyes, which are quite delicate and generally a popular choice with clients. Nars “Dragon” lip-pencil www.narscosmetics.co.uk was used on Noomis lips – actually this was her own colour, which I layered with Macs classic red lip-liner in redd. I used the same base, Chanels aqua lumiere in 40 on Noomis skin as I had used in the day and Nars illuminator highlighter in Copacabana to give her cheek-bones some “gleam”. Mac Posey pink blush and Smashbox bronzers were used in the cheeks and cheekbones to contour and give a fresh “flush”.I always remove all the day makeup and give the skin a bit of a treatment with oils, in this case Clarins Blue Orchid, if there is time after  the day junkets and between the premiere if at all possible and we did this on the terrace, in the early evening sun over-looking the Venetian sea. Just heaven….
